I”ll be performing with the Ethos Collective on February 6, 2013 at 12:00pm at the University of British Columbia. This concert will feature the works of Fracois Houle and Daniel Brandes as well as some of the best collective improvisations.

This is your chance to see how a group of classically trained musicians navigate the realm of musical improvisation.

Recently I’ve been thinking about how to step-up my game as a professional musician. In an effort to reach new fans, concert audiences, friends and family. I’ve decided to try something new. For now it’s a secret. Can you guess what it is?

Adventure

December 14, 2012

Currently travelling down the Coquihalla on the way to Kamloops for a weekend of rehearsals and concerts with the KSO. I haven’t seen this much snow for a long time. Anyone wishing to have a white Christmas should try the mountainous interior of British Columbia.

CO:LAB weekend 2

December 7, 2012

This weekend is the second and final weekend of the CO:LAB project at the Scotiabank Dance Centre. Last weekend was a blast! It’s been a musical and dance lab that has yielded some really creative ideas and concepts. The secret concept of framing an improvisational structure has stuck in my mind. It seems like it could be a fitting explanation of life. Maybe. Maybe not. Certainly more to come as I get a chance to reflect after the project concludes.

CO:LAB

For the next couple of weekends I’ll be a guest musician of composer Christopher Reiche at CO:LAB.

CO:LAB is a project bringing together choreographers, composers, dancers, and musicians for an experimental lab.

I’m pretty interested in how this is going to go down. My imagination is running wild with ideas and possibilities. Above is a picture of my first experiment with a set-up. I’ve come up with a seated idea which will allow me to use both my hands and feet. To the right hand side make note of the ceramic and metal bowls. Make a suggestion if you wish!

There are a few open sessions for people interested in the project to attend. They are listed below.

1. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30th, 9pm
BOB’S LOUNGE SALON SERIES – An investigative informal art salon for the curious imbiber. This time Max and David are drinking and exploring with with Paul Plimley and Alana Gerecke @ the bophopshop. Doors at 9pm, Inquiry begins at 10pm. more details at http://www.batteryopera.com
