Privacy Policy
Effective April 2026
1. Introduction
TVC Music Online Studio is owned and operated by Timothy Van Cleave, a sole proprietor. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By creating an account you agree to this policy.
We are committed to being transparent about how your data is handled. This policy is written in plain English because we believe you deserve to understand it.
2. What We Collect
We collect two types of information:

Information you provide directly:
  • Your name and email address when you create an account
  • Your instrument and skill level from your profile
  • Practice session data including date, duration, notes, and category
  • Practice streak data including your current streak count and last practice date
Information collected automatically:
  • IP address and general location (derived from IP, not precise GPS)
  • Device type and browser type
  • Sign-in timestamps
  • App activity such as when the timer runs or quizzes are taken
This information is collected and stored through Firebase, a platform provided by Google LLC. By using TVC Music Online Studio you acknowledge that your data is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy, which can be found at policies.google.com/privacy.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
  • To create and manage your account
  • To provide the practice tools including the timer, metronome, quizzes, and practice tracking
  • To sync your data across devices so your practice history is available wherever you sign in
  • To personalize your experience based on your instrument and skill level
  • To send you important account communications such as email verification and password reset emails
  • To send you updates and educational content if you opted in to our mailing list at signup
  • To improve the app based on how it is used
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond operating and improving TVC Music Online Studio.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by Google LLC through Firebase, located in the United States. By using TVC Music Online Studio you consent to your data being stored and processed in the United States.
If you opted in to our mailing list at signup, your email address is also stored by Kit, our email marketing platform. Your email address is subject to Kit's Privacy Policy, which can be found at kit.com/privacy.
We do not store your data on our own servers. All data storage is handled by the third party services listed above.
5. Who Has Access
Access to your data is limited to the following:
  • Timothy Van Cleave, as the owner and operator of TVC Music Online Studio, has access to account information and app usage data for the purpose of operating and improving the app
  • Google LLC, through Firebase, as the infrastructure provider storing your data
  • Kit, for email communications if you opted in at signup
No other individuals, companies, or third parties have access to your data. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or any other third party for commercial purposes.
In the unlikely event we are required by law to disclose your data — such as in response to a court order — we will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.
6. What We Don't Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
  • We do not collect precise GPS or location data
  • We do not access your camera or microphone
  • We do not access your contacts
  • We do not use tracking cookies to follow your activity across other websites
  • We do not collect data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without parental consent please contact us immediately at [email protected]
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
  • Your practice data and profile information is kept until you clear it using the Clear My Data button in the app or request full account deletion
  • The Clear My Data button removes all practice sessions, streak data, and profile information from our database. It does not delete your login account or Firebase's infrastructure-level logs such as sign-in timestamps and IP addresses
  • To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data including your login credentials, contact us at [email protected]. We will process your request within a reasonable timeframe
  • If you unsubscribe from our mailing list, your email address is removed from Kit promptly
  • Some infrastructure-level data may be retained by Google LLC through Firebase in accordance with their own data retention policies
8. Your Rights
As a user of TVC Music Online Studio you have the following rights regarding your data:
  • Right to access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting us at [email protected]. We will provide it in a readable format within 30 days
  • Right to correction — you can update your name, instrument, and skill level directly in the app at any time via My Account
  • Right to deletion — you can clear your practice data using the Clear My Data button in the app, or request full account deletion by contacting us at [email protected]
  • Right to withdraw consent — if you opted in to our mailing list you can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send
  • Right to know — you have the right to know what data we collect and how we use it, which is the purpose of this policy
To exercise any of these rights contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves. Reasons for updates may include:
  • Adding new features or services such as payment processing
  • Changes to third party services we use such as Firebase, Kit, or future providers
  • Changes in applicable law or best practices
When we make a significant change to this policy we will notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your account and displaying a notice inside the app when you next sign in.
Continued use of TVC Music Online Studio after a policy change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Children's Privacy
TVC Music Online Studio is designed for use by musicians of all ages, including students. However, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent.
If you are a parent or guardian and your child under 13 has created an account without your knowledge or consent, please contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will promptly delete the account and all associated data.
For students under 13, we encourage parents and guardians to create and manage the account on their child's behalf.

Terms and Conditions
Effective April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account and using TVC Music Online Studio you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms please do not use the app.
These terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Timothy Van Cleave, sole proprietor and owner of TVC Music Online Studio. By checking the agreement box at signup you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
If you are creating an account on behalf of a minor, you as the parent or guardian agree to these terms on their behalf and are responsible for their use of the app.
2. What the App Is and Isn't
TVC Music Online Studio is a web-based music practice tool designed to help musicians of all ages practice more effectively. The app provides a practice timer, metronome, music quizzes, practice tracking, and access to private lesson booking.
TVC Music Online Studio is not a substitute for professional music instruction. The tools provided are intended to supplement and support your music education, not replace it.
We make no guarantee that use of the app will result in any specific level of musical improvement or achievement. Musical growth depends on many factors including practice consistency, prior experience, natural aptitude, and the quality of instruction received.
The app is provided as-is and we reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.
3. Account Responsibilities
When you create an account with TVC Music Online Studio you are responsible for the following:
  • Providing accurate and truthful information at signup including your name and email address
  • Maintaining the security of your password and account credentials. We recommend using a strong unique password and not sharing it with anyone
  • All activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised contact us immediately at [email protected]
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent any restrictions is not permitted
  • Accounts are personal and non-transferable. Sharing your account credentials with others is not permitted
If you forget your password you can reset it using the forgot password link on the sign in screen or by contacting us at [email protected].
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we believe has been compromised, shared, or used in violation of these terms.
4. Acceptable Use
By using TVC Music Online Studio you agree not to:
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the app, its servers, or any connected systems
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the app or its infrastructure
  • Upload or transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful software
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
  • Use the app in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair its performance
  • Attempt to circumvent any security measures or access controls within the app
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account found to be in violation of these acceptable use guidelines without prior notice.
Content posted or submitted within the app must not be abusive, threatening, obscene, defamatory, or offensive. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines and to terminate the account responsible.
5. Subscription and Payments
TVC Music Online Studio currently offers free access to all practice tools including the timer, metronome, music quizzes, and practice tracking.
Subscriber-only content including exercises, method books, and video lessons will be available in the future for a fee. Pricing and payment terms will be communicated clearly before any charge is made.
When payment processing is introduced:
  • All payments will be processed securely through a third party payment provider. We will never store your payment card details
  • Subscription fees will be clearly disclosed before purchase
  • Refund policies will be clearly stated at the time payment processing is introduced
  • You will be notified of any changes to pricing or subscription terms in advance
Nothing in these terms obligates you to purchase any paid features. Free features will remain available as described at the time of your signup.
6. Intellectual Property
All content within TVC Music Online Studio is owned by Timothy Van Cleave unless otherwise stated. This includes but is not limited to:
  • The app design, layout, and user interface
  • All written content including exercises, method books, guides, and educational materials
  • All original musical compositions and arrangements created by Timothy Van Cleave
  • Quiz content, questions, and educational materials
  • The TVC Music Online Studio name and branding
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content within the app without prior written permission from Timothy Van Cleave.
Your personal data — including your practice sessions, profile information, and streak data — belongs to you. We claim no ownership over your personal data.
The app uses third party technologies including Firebase by Google LLC and VexFlow for music notation. These remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
TVC Music Online Studio is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Timothy Van Cleave disclaims all warranties including but not limited to:
  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranties that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components
  • Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content within the app
We do not warrant that the app will meet your specific requirements, that errors will be corrected immediately, or that the app will be available at all times or in all locations.
TVC Music Online Studio is a beta product currently in active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time. We appreciate your patience and feedback as we continue to improve the app.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Timothy Van Cleave shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use TVC Music Online Studio. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Loss of data or practice history
  • Loss of access to the app due to technical issues or service interruptions
  • Any reliance placed on content or information within the app
  • Any unauthorized access to your account or personal data
In no event shall Timothy Van Cleave's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the app exceed the amount you have paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim. For users on the free tier this amount is zero.
TVC Music Online Studio provides practice tools including a timer and metronome designed to support your practice sessions. We are not responsible for any physical injury, discomfort, or playing-related condition that may arise from music practice including but not limited to repetitive strain injuries, tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, or other musculoskeletal conditions.
Users are encouraged to practice responsibly, take regular breaks, and consult a medical professional if they experience any pain or discomfort related to playing their instrument.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate your account at any time. You may terminate your account by requesting deletion at [email protected] or by ceasing use of the app.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time without prior notice if we believe you have violated any part of these Terms and Conditions, engaged in fraudulent or illegal activity, created multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions, shared your account credentials, or posed a security risk to the app or other users.
Upon termination your access to the app will be revoked immediately. Your practice data will be retained for a reasonable period before deletion unless you request immediate removal. Any outstanding obligations under these terms survive termination.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, United States. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Oregon.
